Insulated Log Cabins

Insulated Log Cabins

We’re known for using high-quality, slow-grown European softwood derived from spruce or pine, and our naturally insulated log cabins are no exception. As they’re intended for use 365 days a year, all our cabins are made from 44mm thick logs or thicker to provide a robust structure with maximum longevity and the natural insulation you would expect from timber that is nearly two inches thick. These designs prioritise structural integrity without compromising on style. They’re built with a four-way chamfered notch and fully interlocking, double tongue and groove log system for added roof and floor insulation, which helps to prevent any penetration of wind or damp.

Yet these naturally insulated timber cabins are available with a variety of roof, window, and door options, so you’ll have the final say on the look and functionality of the build. If you can’t find anything you like in our catalogue, we can even build a bespoke insulated cabin, designed specifically for your needs and preferences.

Naturally Insulated Garden Cabin Benefits

Our naturally insulateing 44mm log cabins are a very versatile choice — thanks to their higher levels of heat retention, they can be used comfortably all year round. This makes our garden cabins perfect for those who plan to use their cabins for something productive like a home office or craft workshop, or even turn it into a fitness space like a yoga studio or gym, as the space will stay a reasonable temperature in every season.

Equally, timber cabins with 44mm logs make a wonderful extra reception room for your home, where you can entertain guests with a view of the garden or just curl up with a book on your own. Whatever you intend to use your cabin for, choosing an insulated design gives you endless options.

Insulated Cabin Maintenance

Despite their solid structures, naturally insulated garden cabins still require some regular maintenance to stay in their best condition. We build all our cabins from high-quality untreated timber, so you’ll need to treat the wood with a reliable water resistance treatment when it first arrives, before topping up every year to keep it as weatherproof as possible.

It’s also important that you work out the best way to ventilate your cabin – there are several different options to consider, from adding simple wall vents or a whirligig to installing an electric fan, or even just regularly airing it out the old fashioned way. You might want to think about how you’re going  to light your insulated cabin too. For instance, if you’re wiring your cabin into the mains, you could choose long-lasting LED bulbs, but if you prefer a warmer aesthetic, you may opt for solar lamps or battery-powered fairy lights instead.
