What is a lean to shed?

As the name suggests, a lean to shed is a shed that’s constructed with one side which is attached to – or leaning up against – an existing building. Usually, a lean to garden shed will be positioned adjacent to a garage, garden wall, a wall of the house itself of even against a robust fence. However, more typically this style can also be found with a four wall structure, simply placed against a garden wall and/or fence, improving the style and utilising garden space more effectively. This type of shed has a simple design that provides great value for money, and makes an efficient storage solution for outdoor areas where space is at a premium.

Despite their more straightforward structure, lean-to sheds are still available in a range of sizes, with different cladding styles, and a number of different window and glazing options.

Why choose a lean to garden shed?

Lean to sheds offer plenty of advantages, but here are a few of the most significant you can expect:

  • Cost effective. Lean to wooden sheds are usually one of the more affordable options available, so they’re ideal for those upgrading their gardens on a tighter budget.
  • Maximises garden space. As they’re neatly nestled against a wall or fence, lean to sheds never dominate the appearance of your garden, taking up minimal floorspace.
  • Durable cladding options. Choose from log board and shiplap cladding, or for a more durable finish, opt for tongue and groove cladding, or pressure-treated boards.
  • Provides additional storage. With such a range of sizes, you can find a lean to shed for your bikes, your gardening gear, or whatever else you need to store.
  • Different styles available. We offer lean to sheds with apex and pent rooves, so you can select the shape and style that suits your needs, and your garden.
