Eden Reforestation Projects

Eden Reforestation Projects (Eden) is a non-profit organization based in California, USA, that works in developing countries to reduce extreme poverty and restore healthy forests.

The destruction of healthy forest systems causes many different problems. Trees provide a habitat for animals, purify water sources, control flooding and erosion, and help replenish the soil with needed nutrients. That is why we choose to plant trees in nations that have been deforested to the degree in which communities no longer have resources for food, shelter, clean water, and education for their children. We employ thousands of people living in extreme poverty and provide them with employment, education, and tools necessary to plant, grow, and protect millions of trees every month. Through consistent income, employees can begin to afford daily necessities such as food, shelter, clothing, and medicine. We believe that caring for the environment comes hand in hand with caring for the oppressed and impoverished.

Eden currently plants over 15 million trees each month. They achieved a milestone of planting 400 million trees in August 2020. Eden currently operates in eight different nations: Madagascar, Haiti, Nepal, Indonesia, Mozambique, Kenya, Honduras, and Nicaragua.
