Also, have a look around for restaurants where you can bring your own bottle!
Penny Saving Challenge
A new trend began this year and it’s called The Penny Saving Challenge.
It’s so simple and a fantastic way to easily save money throughout the year.
All you need to do is save a penny every day and it goes up a penny each day. So day one save 1p, day two save 2p day three save 3p…etc. Just like in the image above!
Everyone in the Tiger Sheds office is doing it so why not give it a go?
When you do Dry January you will surprise yourself by how much money you will save.
When you’re out for dinner, ask for water, when you go on a night out, enjoy mocktails, and when you’re at home try out some tasty non-alcoholic beverages. Most non-alcoholic drinks tend to be cheaper but you more than likely won’t drink as much non alcoholic drinks so end up saving money.
Sales Sales Sales
First of all, if you’re not a disciplined person when it comes to shopping stay away from the sales! They’re made to bring you into the shop so you will also look at the items not in the sale. But if you are, then the January sales can be a dream!
Online shopping for sales is a great way to not be distracted by the items not in the sale and often it’s cheaper to buy online.
Some shops which are offering great items in the sales:
Remember that expensive suit you bought and never wore? Or that Christmas present you really don’t need?
January is the perfect time to have big clear out and make some money from the things you don’t use or want.
If you’re thinking, I don’t have anything. Make it a game. Go home and try to find 3 objects/clothes that you could live without. Ask yourself, do I really need them?
On a final note, the best way to save money is definitely to budget.
The most efficient way to do this can be using a spreadsheet. Simply break up all your expenses on a spreadsheet and then you can see exactly where your money is going and how much you have left over. Try to put some money aside in case of an emergency or to treat yourself for getting through another month!
How will you save money this year?
