Customer Spotlight: When Leeds Cares Turned to Us for Help Reaching Millions

Leeds Hospitals Charity (then Leeds Cares) is the NHS Charitable Trust for the Leeds Teaching Hospitals. The Trust helps fund health programmes, new surgeries, equipment and just about anything hospitals need in the area. To achieve this, they rely on donations from the public and the community, and they are always working hard to raise their profile.

The charity is the official charity partner to the UCI Road World Championship (for cycling) – which was back in England for the first time in over 30 years in September 2019.

The event’s official Fan Zone was in Harrogate, where one million people attended over nine days. A total of 3 million people gathered in the city, while more than 200 million watched online and through the BBC coverage. Having a presence in the Fan Zone would be a fantastic opportunity to publicise such a great local cause.

Giles Fretwell, Events & Community Manager at Leeds Hospitals Charity, was looking for a suitable garden building to take up the charity’s’ space at the UCI event.

And that’s when he got in touch with Tiger…

Facilitating fun for thousands

When Giles told us he was looking for a garden building for the UCI event, we were happy to help them with a 18 x 10 ft. Tiger Retreat Contemporary Summerhouse for the event.

Why did Leeds Cares choose this specific garden building?

Giles explains, “We knew the building had to be easy to access, but also very durable due to the amount of use it would see throughout the event.

“After all, thousands and thousands of people were going to be walking in and out over nine days. With this in mind, we thought the extra high eaves on this building perfect – they’re also great for accommodating even the tallest visitors!

“The guys at Tiger installed the summerhouse on the weekend before the event in just 30 minutes. After this, the Leeds Hospitals Charity team spray painted it purple – very fetching!”

How did the summerhouse fare?

Well, Giles was very happy with the results.

“I can’t thank Tiger Sheds enough for all their help on this. This was being used in the Fan Zone as part of a huge event and everything was seamless.

“The delivery and build went without a hitch and the shed was up within half an hour!”

The summerhouse is still in regular use for various Leeds Cares activities, having been moved to a new location.

“Everything has been amazing from Tiger Sheds and I cannot recommend them highly enough. Great product – and even better service.”
